Back to The Big Smoke

And so, after an almost too long easter holiday, I am on my way back to the big city. I have had an amazing MONTH at home, but I am happy to be going back to reunite with my lovely London girls and return to some of my favourite London haunts. This is my final term of my first year at London College of Fashion and I am beyond excited to get to work on this term's rather fun assignment!

Nonetheless, I am going to miss the beautiful city of Edinburgh (and my friends and family- obv) quite a bit, especially given that I had a train to catch meaning no Sunday roast! I have a horrible feeling that the next few days may be plagued with a bit of homesickness (thank god for Skype!), but perhaps these plaid Jeffrey Campbell shoes could be the cure?

As the Solestruck's "disclaimer" notes: "these are freakin' dangerous, in the hottest way possible." I have been madly in love with JC shoes for a good while now, but fear I am not quite steady enough on my heels to splurge on a pair just yet!

I also am waaaaay too accustomed to pretty dresses and pastels to buy a pair of shoes that potentially double as a weapon, but whoever gets their mitts on these Lita's will spark some serious shoe envy.

Sweet Treat from Mulberry!

Lemon Lovelies

by Shona Wallace, @SWfashion_

I can hardly resist sorbet shades this season, and this Topshop skirt really is the ultimate. Pretty pleats, a sweet lemon shade and a lovely drop hem. It's feminine, cheery and flattering- it will brighten up any day!

Pair with these gorgeous bright accessories for an on trend look which will certainly put a spring in your step!

Sugar, Spice (let's just ignore the price!)

by Shona Wallace, @SWfashion

Every single season, I fall in love with at least five items in the Mulberry collection, and this season is no obsession. It's getting quite frustrating as cash-strapped student.

Here is my pick of Mulberry's new stock (depress yourselves here!) and it really is so sweet. The pastel colours that are ubiquitous everyspring time are still around this year, and Mulberry have done their's in the most covetable fashion possible.

This is true dolly prettiness. Little shifts that kick out at the waist into full skirts just made for swirling, softly pointed pumps in glossy petal patents or scattered with gems, peplums that accentuate a dainty waist and beautiful structured handbags to add a ladylike edge. It's just perfection and I want every last piece.

Mulberry why, oh why, must you do this to me every season? Surely I don't deserve it...

p.s.

Excuse the lack of decent posts of late, it has just been my 18th birthday and i'm just getting back to reality! However, I was lucky enough to factor some Mulberry into my birthday weekend with a big sister for my Baby Oak Alexa- say hello to my new true love. Who needs a human Valentine? (keep checking the blog for a series of bitterness imbued posts about Valentines day!) I also thought i'd share with you lovely lot a picture of my AMAZING cake that my AMAZING parents got me as a total surprise. Red velvet cake in the form of a Louboutin shoe box with a barcode reading "Happy 18th Shona"... Why must it be over? Roll on my 21st!

Mulberry, You Brighton Up My Day!

My Mulberry SS12 picks. I want it all!

I know, I know! Only the other day I posted about the Mulberry ad campaign (see the pastelly, saccharine sweet post HERE), but I just adore it and it really is pretty mood lifting! I can't wait to drool over the collection when it hits stores!

SS12 Lust List: Item #2

Christian Louboutin for Mary Katrantzou, SS12

I am a girl, and therefore it is only natural that I will fall in love with a pair of shoes at least once every season. Premature though this may be, I think I have found my sole-mates (see what I did there?) for SS12.

While my own feet are currently clad in layers of thermal socks, I can't help but imagine how lovely they might look slipped into these STUNNING Louboutin heels from Mary Katrantzou's coveted SS12 collection (my pick of the season.)

It's no secret that 2012 is going to be Katrantzou's big year. Her A/W collection has brought her a nomination for the highly prestigious Design Museum's Design of the Year award, which is such an achievement! This, alongside a Topshop collaboration hitting stores in February (i've already started sharpening my elbows for the launch) and one of the most celebrated shows of the spring season under her belt, have secured her place as fashions next megastar.

Her eye catching prints and masterfully cut dresses are the stuff of dreams, and these shoes designed with Louboutin are just the delicious cherry on top.

The clear plastic brings a futuristic touch to the cheerful bright metallics, and the studs add a serious edge.  They are sexy, chic and flattering all at once!

I want them in every colour please, but the silver and gold pair are a firm favourite as I just have a thing for mixed metallics!

Kudos to Katrantzou!

SS12 Lust List : Item 1

VERSUS by Christopher Kane SS12

VERSUS by Christopher Kane SS12

NEW BLOG FEATURE!

I am going to compile a fantasy lust list for this season with every piece that I just can not get enough of, and this dress is a great place to start because I am, quite frankly, in love.

If you could bottle Christopher Kane's immense talent, the fashion world would be an even better place. His work at his own label this season was inspired, and his collection for Versace Versus was one of his best yet (after last season, which was a bit of a let down for me!)

This dress is my favourite piece from the Versus collection. It is part sport-luxe, part ballerina and I adore it. The skirt is inspired by cheerleaders, and the splits and pleats give it such fantastic movement and keep it youthful. The cut is superb and very flattering on a boyish shape (like my own- Andrej Pejic is perhaps bustier than me) in that it cinches at the waist and kicks out, creating curves where there are none!

I love the cut-out detail which stops the candy pink chiffon becoming too saccharine sweet, and the overall effect is very modern and sexy.

It is so on-trend, but still is a little bit timeless and unique. The candyfloss pink shade fits with the trend for pastels (again?! well it is Spring...) and the varsity look is also hot this season (led by Mr. Kane, natch).

What new season pieces have got you all in a daydream? Let me know!

All comments are welcome, and very much appreciated!
