Chirpy Cheep Chic

Easter is just around the corner, so crack open the mini-eggs and prepare to gain ten pounds of easter egg weight (think i'm exaggerating? Check the back page of UK Vogue this month... then we can talk.)

Or, you could muster up the will power to stay away from the monstrous chocolate-y delights in the shops at the moment, and instead opt for this super flirty skirt by Zara. The blushing nude shade is bang on trend, while the feather detail is a great way to get your wardrobe up to date, as well as being a great investment for AW12, as Sarah Burton's McQueen show was an extravagant affair full of feathers and furs. 

Pair with a sharp blouse- this Equipment one at My-Wardrobe is the ultimate and I think I am in love, a sugary suede clutch, classic courts and some fun accessories. Or dress it down with a striped tee and flats for a cool summer in the city look.

Want, Want, Need

Everyone knows i'm a little bit obsessed with neons this season- there is just something so alluring about a neutral outfit with the added zing of a fluoro accessory (see what I mean with THIS post). But, alas, i'm too much of a wuss to buy anything REALLY neon- returning a bright yellow H&M t-shirt tomorrow as I know, for fact, I can't pull it off with the pizazz of Olivia Palermo et al (I'm talking about this divine Olivia P look, natch.)

I think I may have to stick to little accessories for a nod to the nude and neon, or just nailpolish. YAWN. But if you, unlike me, actually have some fashion balls you would be insane not to buy this Zara TRF jacket (£59.99) which is just beyond gorgeous.

Worn, as Zara styled it, with distressed denim and a slouchy tee, this look is beyond amazing and I adore it. I noticed a gorgeous lady at LFW wearing a neon yellow blazer and she looked phenomenal, I wish I could pull myself together and realise I AM A FASHION STUDENT. I AM YOUNG. I MUST TAKE FASHION RISKS.

But... that little lace dress is just so tempting, i'll keep it nice and safe, thanks.

Hits and Misses

At last night's fashion star awards there were some serious style statements. Nicole Richie is definitely back on the fashion radar with her recent outfit choices, and this canary silken maxi is Californian goddess to a t. However, Elle MacPherson- yes, you have an incredible body, but you are a little bit past the stage of dressing like an exotic dancer crossed with a wrestler. Not. Good. If I were your sons I would be seriously cringing. Unflattering and slightly scary. Must try harder!

In Primary Colours: A Masterclass

Leigh Lezark is always immaculately dressed, and I am always excited to see what she wears at Paris Fashion Week. This season has been no exception, and she has churned out a number of beautiful high fashion wares- in a slightly unpredictable colour palette.

While the majority of the fashion crowd are donning ice cream pastels or flashy fluoros, Leigh Lezark has opted for the simpler option- an array of Jil Sander-esque (speaking of which, I am beyond upset that Raf Simons has left Jil Sander... What a genius!) primary colours. For the Sonia Rykiel show she looked stylish in a lemon trouser suit, and for the Dior show she looked even more stylish in red trousers with black accents.

Usually i'm a little apprehensive about bold colours paired with black, but Leigh shows just how very chic it can look. Leigh shows us just how easy it is to wear bold trousers, so there is no excuse not to try it now!

Chelsea Chic

I never once thought that I would be citing a reality TV star as a style icon, but that was before I realised how much of a style crush I had developed for Millie Mackintosh. While Made in Chelsea is certainly a guilty pleasure of mine, I no longer watch it solely for the dramas, I'm also a little bit infatuated with Millie's wardrobe.

An enviable blend of chic French labels like Maje and Sandro (my favourites!) topped off with luxurious accessories and glossy hair, Millie's look is polished elegance balanced with a youthful edge. She dresses the way I would if I were rich... And pretty... And not so lazy. 

Her outfit at last night's Look awards is a case in point, showing just how to work brights this season. I love, love, love the look! She tweeted today that she was wearing Australian designer Rachel Gilbert with Jimmy Choo wedges (mmm, so lush!), and her papaya leather jacket is by the amazing Parisian brand Carven. I adore her style- she is the perfect example of how to wear a trend without looking a fashion victim.

The Dream Jacket

It is a well known fact that a beautiful jacket makes an outfit, and SJP has shown just how relevant this is for now- even for evening!

Wearing a mermaid-esque candy pink gown, SJP looked phenomenal adding a healthy dosage of grunge with this beautifully cut leather jacket by Theysken's Theory (£910 at net-a-porter). It is the label adored and coveted by those in the fashion know, and this jacket is my personal dream piece.

Kudos to SJP for breaking the fashion rules and opting for clashing a saccharine pink with black leather- it pays off and has me drooling after this luxurious little jacket.

The Divine Miss Moss

Today (ooookay, yesterday if you're nitpicking!) was Kate Moss' birthday.

Would you believe it that arguably Britain's most stunning woman is just two years shy of the big 4-0?! I can't! And I would be very grateful, if the gods of ageing are reading, that I can look as beautiful as Moss when I hit my late thirties.

The fact that i'm merely in my late teens and still nowhere near as hot as her? That's irrelevant.  

I felt that I should do a post celebrating my number one style icon's best looks to coincide with her birthday (just a few days till mine as well), and we can sit back and appreciate how much British fashion owes to this true icon of modern times!

I had to really rack my brains to find my favourite of Mossy's outfits over the years, especially without access to my loser-ish collection of Kate-based literature (Angela Buttolph's book is the best, but still resides in Edinburgh next to the Mario Testino books and the biography), but here's my pick of some classically Kate looks. How could we cope without her?
