
Every season comes at least one trend that verges on bad taste- there is always such a fine balance between chic and trashy- and this A/W the culprit is definitely the opulence trend!
Balmain did it to perfection with luscious minidresses and tousled hair, while Alexander McQueen went all out and went for the elegant approach with decadent decoration on gowns. The trend is built around gold brocades, lace, sequins, leopard print and leather. However, trying this trend when you aren't dripping in cash is always going to be a challenge- where can we get that expensive regal look without looking over the top and tacky? How can we combine leopard print and brocade and still look cool?
I looked at some of our favourite high street stores to search for some answers to these tricky questions. With some great pieces, I put together a few outfits for different occasions to show you that this trend needn't be daunting:
