Kissy Kissy...

Fashion and music have always gone hand in hand with so much of a band or singer's appeal resting in their fashion credentials. So many stars have embodied this- Joan Jett of the Runaways, Kate Bush, Debbie Harry, David Bowie, Patti Smith and so on- but nowadays there are only a few who spring to mind when looking at how style and music work together and my favourite of all these (Karen O, Florence Welch etc) is Alison Mosshart of The Kills and The Dead Weather (with Jack White).

I absolutely love her style! Everything is always totally effortless but so cool. Her style is so reflected in her and Jamie Hince's music with that relaxed rock sound. My personal favourite is 'The Good Ones' which is really up there for me!

She never uses her sex appeal to sell her music yet is one of the most attractive musicians out there! She is such a style icon in how unique and relaxed her approach is to everything. She never tries to be cool, but always is. Her musical inspiration comes from Patti Smith, Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth among others contributing to her fabulous music.

Linking back to fashion, Jamie and Alison fronted the recent Zadig and Voltaire campaign (the label of Parisian cool-kids) with a super chic advert. Mosshart's signature style is worn jeans, slouchy t-shirts and glam-rock touches like her old Hedi Slimane gold boots. Her style is totally shaped by her musical influences as quoted from an interview with Derek Blasberg at Interview magazine:

"It’s a little peculiar. But I loved the way the bands I grew up admiring looked and the way they dressed. That was just as inspiring as the other elements. It’s the whole thing: the music, their lives, their style"

Here are some of the looks that make Mosshart a style icon:
