Isn't He Marvelous?

Father's Day is just around the corner, so if you're looking for a fabulous gift for your number one man, then look no further than Byredo's charming Mister Marvelous eau de parfum.

Byredo is my preferred perfume house of the moment, for I am obsessed with the vibrant Flowerhead scent of wild jasmine blossoms and angelica seeds. I like to find an unusual scent, and Byredo's complex blends fit the bill. Based in Stockholm, Byredo was founded by Ben Gorham in 2006 and the line can now be found in Liberty.

The earthy Gypsy Water scent, perhaps the most popular, is unisex, but Mister Marvelous is just pour hommes.  Mister Marvelous is inspired by hairstylist Christiaan Houtenbos, the man who Ben Gorham sees to embody the Byredo brand. The scent is fresh at first with notes of mandarin leaf and neroli bloom, a heart of bamboo and lavender, and an inviting base of black amber and cedarwood.

Encased in the signature Byredo bottle, the scent makes for an elegant father's day gift for all manner of marvelous misters.

Fit for a Fashion Week #1: His

It's just a few days until London Fashion Week commences, so I thought I would share some of my stylistic inspirations for this season.

I am not one to really go for it in the fashion stakes. I know what I like and I like what I know... and no matter how confident I may be feeling, nothing makes me feel better than a simple cream button-down with skinny black jeans (current favourites? these bad boys).

Staying true to my own style, these Fit for Fashion Week ensembles- his and hers, of course- are pretty relaxed and understated, while still nodding to key trends for the season.

1. A classic white t-shirt is an item that will never date, and therefore it makes little sense to scrimp on such an essential. James Perse t-shirts are second to none, and this simple crew neck style available from www.matchesfashion.com is a premium cotton blend that layers wonderfully. £45 here.

2. Cutler & Gross is one of the most respected eyewear brands of the moment. Quintessentially British with great emphasis on artful craftsmanship and durability, Cutler & Gross spectacles are the modern gentleman's choice. This season's Cutler & Gross collection brings in trend-led elements for a contemporary spin on their slick frames. These camouflage D-Frames at Mr Porter are a particular favourite. Camouflage is an undeniable trend this season, and these stylish glasses are great for nodding to the trend without any novelties. They are £310 here.

3. The Kooples menswear is a personal favourite of mine. Slick without being over-the-top, each and every collection stays true to the brand's trademark cool-kid look. This suede and shearling biker jacket is a standout piece, along with the other casual jackets in the range. Zip detailing is big news for AW13, but this jacket will stand the test of time. 4. If you are headed to fashion week, I don't doubt that you will require a bag big enough to fit all your essentials. While the croc holdall by Gucci is the ultimate, this slick and understated satchel from ASOS will look sharp in the meantime.

5. These turn-up trousers by Reiss are very smart and bang-on trend for the season ahead. A modern alternative to black, these tailored trousers are ideal for showing off polished new shoes. I also love the juxtaposition between the formal trouser and the James Dean biker. They are £105 here.

6. 1, 2 buckle your shoe! A smart shoe without the fuss of a brogue, the monk strap style is just the ticket for LFW. This leather pair by Kurt Geiger London, also available in brown and matte black, come complete with croc-print leather detailing for a fashion-forward touch. They are £195 here.

One For The Boys: Liberty AW 13

This is a first for me boys and girls... A menswear post. 

I shall explain my reasoning. This month i've been doing a bit of freelancing for a couple of magazines and, alongside the ever comforting womenswear, I have also been heading up a couple of male fashion pages, hence my newfound fondness for all things menswear. 

It's all rather interesting and I really do not see any excuse why you boys shouldn't embrace all things fashion, for there are some amazing brands out there.

Yes, the time has come, I have now decided not only to write incessantly about womenswear, pretending I know what i'm on about, but I shall now do the same for menswear. 

Ain't you in for a treat?

This week has been pretty much press day mania, but my standout had to be the Liberty London press day on Thursday, both for men and women.

One thing that really stood out for me was the abundance of luxurious jersey sweatshirts, which appears to be a big menswear trend for AW13. The Carven menswear collection was not really one I was particularly familiar with, but I really did fall for their black quilted pieces for adding a little textural interest to a classic sweater and drainpipe jeans combo. 

As with womenswear, varsity jackets and bomber jackets are going to be a big trend for AW13. This A.P.C leather combo jacket is such a great staple which would look absolutely great with a bang-on trend geometric print tee, slim fit jeans and smart shoes or Chelsea style boots.

Quilting was another massive trend for Liberty AW13, and this Carven sweater is a great way to tap into the trend. 

For something a little more high fashion, Liberty also had some fabulous printed puffa jackets which could look really stylish with a simple fine-knit sweater and slim fit pants. 

Zany prints are big this season and it looks the same is true for for AW13. In knitwear, sweatshirts, tees and coats, geometric prints are a great way to add a touch of high fashion to a more casual outfit. 

If you're not one to accessories much, ease in with a cool scarf in a warm, stylish shade. For Winter I love this Liberty scarf in rust red with chevron threading. 

Try a print or something really chunky for a cool look and pair with a tailored jacket, slim fit jeans and fine knits. 

Though bold prints are going to be huge for Autumn, it looks like slick panelling and easy stripes are sticking around. These chunky sweaters are a case in point, but this could also be seen on textural coats and leather striped tees.
