"It was my Mom's in the 80s!"

Step aside, Kate Moss, I have a new style icon for AW13. While many may be citing Cher Horowitz as the inspiration behind their tartan minis, I have delved deeper into the treasure trove of super-bitchy chick flicks. 

I am sure that you all quote Mean Girls on a weekly- if not daily- basis, but have you every found yourself coveting an outfit worn by someone "personally victimised by Regina George"? No? Well, my darlings, that is about to change. 

"Oh my God I love your skirt where did you get it?"

"It was my Mom's in the 80s"

"Vintage! So adorable..."

"That is the ugliest effing skirt i've ever seen."

Aah, the Plastics. So while pastel pink is also a huge trend for AW13, one can only legally wear that on Wednesdays, so what do we wear the rest of the time? Ugly effing skirts, that's what.

Blame the PUNK exhibit at the Met or simply point the finger at Hedi Slimane, whether you like it or not there is no sexier skirt this season than the cool girl kilt. It may not have been your Mom's in the 80s, but any checked mini looks darling paired with Autumnal chunky knits, striking slogan tees and savagely pointed Dolly shoes.  

In an interview to be published by the Sunday Telegraph this week, Miuccia Prada argues that to understand what is truly beautiful, we must appreciate what is ugly, and I feel that this is a wonderful style commandment for the new season. What Prada says goes, as far as I'm concerned. 

So I've picked out a few favourites below, and have even invested in the Zara style myself. Another standout is the reasonably priced Etoilé Isabel Marant style, which would be perfect worn with the ACNE Music tee and these covetable boots (I can't believe they are not Balenciaga.)

Dolly Mixture

Looks like Autumn/Winter is going to be rather sweet, ladies. I know my previous post was suitably sugary, but I felt I would attempt to perk up this sunny Monday with some lipstick pink pieces. 

1. Only recently did I realise how wonderful Net-A-Porter's online bookstore is. With everything from Rizzoli's Big Book of Chic through to this charming Camilla Morton fairytale book, this is a great stop for Christmas presents for those fashionable sorts who really do have everything. 

2. BaubleBar jewellery is a huge hit across the pond, and a regular fixture in Instagram's many #armparties. Sadly BaubleBar does not appear to ship to the UK, but we can still ogle at this beautiful costume jewellery. I love this candy pink bangle with glossy buckle detail. 

3. If you are on the hunt for a beautiful colourful coat that taps into this season's hottest colour trend, then look no further. This aptly named Dolly coat, coming soon to ASOS, is trend-led but wonderfully feminine and wearable. With a curved hem and collar, this candied coat really is all sweetness and light. It will be online next month for £85. 

4. Rebel rebel at heart? Spice up a saccharine sweet dress with this expletive ring by Jacquie Aiche at Austique. The New York jewellery designer is another Pinterest/Instagram favourite of mine, and these naughty but nice rings are sure to spark a few conversations. If anyone is appalled, tell them it clearly says "luck" and that they have a filthy mind. 

5. Ciaté polishes are always on the money, and this hot pink Raspberry Collins shade is the perfect way to nod to next season. From their latest Suncatcher collection, and named after an equally yummy cocktail, I love this candied shade on toes worn with fierce sandals like these. It's a cool £9 here. 

6. Prada Candy is my current fragrance of choice, for it smells like a sweet shop. Can't really get much better than that- it's good enough to eat and that 1960s inspired packaging is equally delicious. 

7. A sign of my maturity if ever there was one, I have now grown to love liquorice allsorts. Once repelled by the bitterness of liquorice, I now am more than partial to a coconut roll or ten. Thankfully, Mrs Kibbles offer these sweets individually, so we don't have to bother with the rest. Additionally, how on trend are these sweeties? Unlikely style icon, much. Buy 'em here. 

8. I do love a little bit of underwear-as-outerwear, and this neon pink triangle lace style by Topshop is made to be seen. Try under a sheer silk shirt, buttoned to the top.

A Spring Fling

1. Everybody say HEY to the bag of my dreams. This Prada tote in clay grey leather has overtaken the navy Céline in the dreamy bag stakes... It is just such a beautiful neutral, a lovely alternative to black or tan, and is just divine. I want it so much but I can't seem to find that spare £1290, did anyone see where I left it?

2. This lemon yellow cropped sweater from Topshop is a SS13 must have. While the colour may not be for everyone, it was a huge hit at the Balenciaga SS13 show (see my new season references here) and looks gorgeous with a geometric black and white print. Wear this chunky sweater (£30) now with a long skirt and boots, and channel with a flirty mini come spring... If it ever arrives, of course.

3. This Accessorize necklace is such a lovely way to instantly update your look. The turquoise shade will lift neutral pieces to new heights, but it is also a great colour to make other brights sing- especially this zesty yellow. Shades of marine are going to be a huge hit for spring, so this is a great way to get ahead without feeling like you've splurged. It also has an alluring Elizabeth Taylor vibe which certainly belies it's £15 price-tag.

4. Any excuse for a new accessory, eh? Ever since my friend Nicole pointed me in the direction of the Kate Spade store in Westfield, I have been smitten with this bow-detail iPhone case. It is around £30 but is such a lovely way to treat yourself on pay day, not to mention a great way to lift your spirits in this horrible, horrible snow.

5. I am in love with these new season Kurt Geiger ELLA shoes. While white shoes may have horrible connotations of fake tan, Malibu and bleached hair (and no that is NOT a description of my Friday night look), in recent years they have been given a sartorial update and have become a beacon of modern elegance. Just ask Sarah Harris, the incredible fashion features writer at British Vogue, who wrote a great piece a few issues back about why white stilettos were her new season must have. If the Vogue girls are doing it, why shant we? White shoes are actually rather chic and lend a contemporary and fresh edge to everything from simple skinnies to little black dresses. These block heel shoes from Kurt Geiger (at £195) are just the ticket and I really rather fancy a pair.

6. My latest purchase is this flirty little miniskirt from Topshop, which I initially bought as a piece for work, but have unfortunately been very short of opportunities in which to brave the opaques. I am dotty for this miniskirt (£22) which looks fun worn with a little white crop top (channelling Balenciaga the very best I can) or with a crisp white shirt tucked in. It also looks playful and modern when paired with bold brights like this sherbet sweet sweater.

7. This is a classic nude polish from Nails Inc which has a soft caramel tone to it. Basil Street (£11) is a warm and elegant shade which goes with everything yet looks particularly delicious when paired with zingy aqua.

8. In time for last summer, I featured these fabulous nude and neon nails by Nails Inc, and I felt that they would look particularly fab with this look, as a way of marrying in the cyan blue. Simply paint the base of your in the afore mentioned Basil Street (two coats), then leave to dry before applying a french manicure sticker to the nail and painting the tip in this refreshing Pool Party shade from Topshop. Simple and quirky nail art that is sure to put a smile on your face.

Christmas Time, Mistletoe and Twine!

Aah i've got the Christmas bug, I know it is only the 12th of November, but I don't care. It's Chreeeeeeeeestmaaaaaaas.

Just thought i'd share a wee pic from my fun-filled festive weekend (feel free to give me a slap, i'm such a loser) with Harriet. The cool kids that we are, all we talked about was swimming, fish, Mahiki, Jaymie from Union J and, of course, Christmas Twine.

We know how to party, ladz... Form an orderly queue.

This week I received an email from the girls at Westfield London regarding a new competition. The subject of the email included the words "designer bag", and naturally I was intrigued...

The competition, open to fashion bloggers, gets you to put together your favourite high-end pieces of the season- based on a specific theme- to create a board of lustworthy luxury goods, available in The Village, of course.

I just had to have a go! I chose to do a tactile twist on gothic lux, all about the beautiful textures around this season- inspired by the incredible Gucci show... The star of the show? That glossy Prada tote. BE MINE!

Though I would happily take every piece i've lovingly pinned, the ones featured above are my favourites- what a stunning look that would be. A girl can dream!
