Make it a Maxi!

So the party season is ever approaching and it is the one time of year when we should all strive to look as good as possible!
Everyone has a party outfit formula, usually a case of sparkly mini dress, blazer and heels- but this season it is definitely time to mix that up a bit. Midi skirts are the new minis for day and maxi's are the new minis for night.
Kate Moss's final collection at Topshop is bursting with decadent maxi dresses and this was my main inspiration: they are just totally stunning.
They are really easy to wear no matter what your style and there are so many out there! Plus they are super flattering and glamorous- give it a try!

Channel your inner Hollywood starlet in a floor-sweeping black maxi like these two! Make like Miss. Jolie and keep it minimal with colour-pop earrings or go for full-on metallics to keep it fresh and on-trend! I ADORE these little glittery shoes- so festive and sure to get loads of lovely compliments! This look is minimal but also very flattering- a winner for all shapes and sizes!
A sparkly dress, be it embellished or metallic, is a great way to stand out at a party! Kate Moss' latest collection is full of sparkly dresses (there is a green floor-length number that I am in love with!) and they are just fantastic, if a little pricey. Because these gowns are so heavy on the embellishment and detail (like those at Balmain) just keep it simple with matte heels and a cute clutch and statement ring. This look can be either vintage and feminine or it can be edgy and sexy. Just keep it simple and keep all the focus on the gown.

A white dress is the ultimate in old Hollywood glamour with that iconic image of Marylin Monroe that is forever emulated at fancy dress parties. A white dress, though, can be totally gorgeous on anyone and really stand out! Make like Carine Roitfeld (who always looks super edgy) and team with fierce heels, smoky eyes and a statement clutch like this River Island one which is a snip at £29.99, despite being near identical to the Alexander McQueen ones! Amazing!

A maxi in a bright colour can be really difficult to rock, but if you are going to try- you may as well do it in red! Red is the hottest shade of Winter and always looks great at a party. Look to Lily Donaldson, Sienna Miller and Blake Lively for your inspiration and keep it so simple. Just a pair of gorgeous nude heels and a glamourous ring should be enough! Make sure the red suits your skin tone as well as your shape (this Kate Moss number is perfect for waif's like Kate) and finish off with a slick of MAC Ruby Woo lipstick. Totally chic and eye-catching!
