With the past few seasons making way for some huge new names on the fashion scene like Holly Fulton and MeadhamKirchoff who now obviously have very respected fashion seasonal collections- room was certainly there for Hakaan to blossom!
Hakaan Yildirim is a London-based Turkish designer who was awarded the Young Fashion Designer award at Istanbul's Textile and Apparel Exporter Associations while still studying at university!
His fashion star really started to shine in February this year when buzz started to surround his debut show in LFW. He had Lara Stone modelling (the only show she did in London) and Kate Moss front row- not bad! To top it all off though, his show had French Vogue's Carine Roitfeld sat there to witness him wow the critics.
His first collection really lived up to all the hype with sexy little dresses flirting with feathers and leather constructed in a muted palette of white, black and nude.
This season's show in Paris, with his name has deservedly gaining prestige, was even better! He swapped London for Paris after having won this year's ANDAM award. Carine Roitfeld sat front row once again, with Naomi Campbell rocking a Hakaan leather skirt. His signature look is elegant, structured minimalism with a really sexy edge (leather crop tops anyone?) or as he puts it:
"contemporary yet feminine silhouettes, combining a strong architectural technique with ornamental and organic details." (Vogue.com)
